Topic: "The Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ."
Text: Mark 14:32-38

32. Then they went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." 33. He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be very afraid and tormented. 34. He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death; stay here and watch." 35. And he went a little farther and fell on the ground and prayed that, if possible, the hour might pass from him. 36. He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will." 37. And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? You could not stay awake one hour?" 38. Watch and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit truly is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Let us remember:

This is Gethsemane, a memorable day for every child of God. Let us stop, pause; let us note the availability and willingness Jesus demonstrated to save humanity. Despite the abandonment and selflessness of his disciples, Jesus continued to seek the face of his Father. Jesus's inner courtyard did not fulfill its usual mission of consecration. This place where Jesus went to find refreshment in prayer was not favorable. Nothing was in Jesus' favor. The disciples were unable to accompany their master to the end of this night of anguish. At a time when Jesus most needed the most motivated comfort among his disciples, It was at this exact moment that everyone fell asleep and let go of Him. Gethsemane means oil press; it was an orchard where an oil-making device was installed. This place had therefore become a press for Jesus' heart and emotions. Jesus almost lost his zeal there when hematidrosis (also called "bloody sweat") occurred, this very rare pathology whose clinical manifestation is the secretion of blood or a reddish liquid by the sweat glands. It is said to be favored by anxiety and extreme stress. Jesus experienced it according to Luke 22 verse 44. "Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground." Redemption was already taking its place. Death was already tamed by Jesus because nothing was in his favor. The whole creature detached itself from its creator. Jesus nevertheless urged his disciples to watch and pray so as not to fall into temptation. Unfortunately, they did. Have a wonderful Thursday. Amen.
