Theme: "The Christian and the use of Christian freedom".
Text: Isaiah 61:1-3

1. The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; 2. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; 3. To grant to those who mourn in Zion, to give them a crown for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for a spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, to serve for his glory.

Let us remember:

The Christian draws his freedom from God. The Eternal God is the source of freedom. Nothing can put him in a cage in order to restrict his freedom. Christian freedom consists in stripping ourselves of the encumbrances that could prevent us from moving towards the noble expectations of God who calls us to salvation. Christian freedom is the moral commitment to work only for the Lord. This frees us from the mishmash of associating holy things with profane things. Like Jesus, when the Spirit of the Eternal anoints us to bring good news to the unfortunate; we take free flight towards the accomplishment of our mission. The Word of God makes us so free that nothing can imprison us any more. John 8:36 says: "If the Son therefore makes you free, you will be free indeed". This freedom is a motivation and a commitment to go and heal those who have a broken heart. It is an encouragement to proclaim liberty to the captives, and deliverance to the prisoners. The use that we can make of Christian liberty is limited to the noble exercise of serving God, the nation and humanity by accomplishing the will of God. This is what incites us to proclaim a year of favor from the Lord, and a day of vengeance from our God; to comfort all who afflict. The use of Christian liberty must help us to love and not to hate; to bless and not to curse, to manifest the love of God wherever we go. This liberty will make us terebinths of justice, a plantation of the Lord, to serve for his glory. Excellent Monday. Amen.
