Theme: "Man and Death."
Text: Genesis 2:16-17
16. The Lord God commanded the man, saying, "You may freely eat from every tree of the garden. 17. But from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat from it, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die."
Remember:
The setting God had set in the Garden of Eden did not include death. It was an environment devoid of tears, war, violence, jealousy—in short, no evil—was part of this earthly paradise. To prevent death from returning to His garden, God had a roadmap that man must respect unconditionally. The decision was up to man to choose which way of life to adopt: eternal life or a life shattered by death. By definition, death is the irreversible state of a biological organism that has ceased to live. The death of a human being is the definitive loss of its characteristic properties of life, leading to its destruction. The death of a human being is the complete and definitive cessation of life through the loss of its ability to breathe, to move, to think; in short, the definitive cessation of the functioning of its heart and therefore of all other organs. God had conditioned death upon the consumption of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God was clear in his instruction, for the day he contravened it and ate this fruit, he would die. We can therefore understand that humans and death are lifelong companions, since disobedience invites death to erase and replace the life within human beings. Death only attacks the greedy eaters of forbidden fruits, the disobedient. Have a great Monday. Amen.
