Theme: "Serving the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully even in trials."

Text: Daniel 1:8-10

8. Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the king's food or with the wine the king drank, and he begged the chief eunuch not to force him to defile himself. 9. God gave Daniel favor and grace in the sight of the chief eunuch. 10. The chief eunuch said to Daniel, "I fear my lord the king, who has prescribed what you must eat and drink. For why should he see your face more downcast than that of young men your own age? You would be putting my head on display before the king."

Remember:

A person who wants to serve the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully must impose restrictions on himself even in trials. There are limits that must not be crossed when one is called to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Some trials seem trivial but their impact is great on the emotional, spiritual, moral, managerial and even physical levels. It is therefore imperative to make radical decisions that can help deflect these trials in order to continue one's path without flinching. Thus, Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the king's food and the wine the king drank, and he prayed to the chief eunuch not to force him to defile himself. Daniel went against the king's order in the interest of serving God faithfully. He did not think about reprisals, he did not want to pretend or lie. Rather, he made the decision to make his faith prevail over the king's food. Daniel secured his relationship with God; he valued God by defying the king's order. Daniel agreed to learn the Chaldean language imposed by the king, but he refused the food. This pleased God, for God loves those who serve Him in spirit and truth. Thus, God gave Daniel favor and grace before the chief eunuch. Despite the eunuch's hesitation, Daniel did not change his mind, for he preferred to lose everything to better serve God. Thus, to better serve God, one must break with certain habits and resist adverse pressures. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Amen.
