Theme : " Lord, help my unbelief " Text : John 20: 24-29
24. Thomas, called Didymus, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails, and put my hand in his side, I will not believe. 26. Eight days later Jesus' disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came with the doors closed, stood in the midst of them, and said, Peace be with you! 27. Then he said to Thomas, Put out your finger here, and see my hands; reach out also your hand, and put it in my side; and don't be unbelieving, but believe. 28. Thomas answered him: My Lord and my God! Jesus said to him: 29. Because you saw me, you believed. Happy are those who have not seen, and who have believed!
Let us remember :
We must not allow unbelief to come to a head, otherwise Jesus will confuse us. We have to know how to stop and get back to the good feeling. Not to be like Thomas who multiplied and displayed his list of the stages of his unbelief. As he did not see the Risen Christ; he didn't believe. He adds: If he does not see the mark of the nails in his hands, he would not believe. He still exaggerates: if he does not put his finger in the mark of the nails, he would not believe. He sinks in more beautifully, wanting to put his hand in Christ's side, before believing. Let us not go so far as to display our disbelief in the public arena. That we are recognized for good works and not for the worst. Let us cry out to the Lord that he will come to the aid of our distress of unbelief so as not to perish. Unbelief can still be called "hardness of heart". Excellent Sunday of credulity. Amen Alain Louz.-
