Theme : " Lord, help my unbelief " Text : Mark 9: 14-27
14. When they came to the disciples, they saw a great crowd around them, and scribes arguing with them. 15. As soon as the crowd saw Jesus, they were surprised, and ran to greet him. 16. He asked them: What are you arguing about with them? 17. And a man of the crowd said unto him, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, who is possessed of a dumb spirit. 18. Wherever he grasps it, he throws it to the ground; the child foams, grinds his teeth, and becomes quite stiff. I begged your disciples to cast out the spirit, and they could not. 19. You unbelieving race, Jesus said to them, how long will I be with you? How long will I put up with you? Bring him to me. They brought him to him. 20. And as soon as the child saw Jesus, the spirit stirred him violently; he fell to the ground, and rolled around while foaming. 21. Jesus asked the father: How long has this happened to him? Since childhood, he replied. 22. And often the spirit has thrown him into fire and into water to destroy him. But, if there is anything you can do, come to our aid, have compassion on us. 23. Jesus said to him: If you can!… Anything is possible for him who believes. 24. Immediately the child's father cried out: I think so! help my unbelief! 25. Jesus, seeing the multitude coming, rebuked the unclean spirit, and said unto him, Dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of this child, and enter no more. 26. And he went out, crying out, and shaking him with great violence. The child became as if dead, so that many said he was dead. 27. But Jesus, taking him by the hand, raised him up. And he stood up.
Let us remember :
Even in front of Jesus, many people develop reasoning instead of taking advantage of his presence to surrender to Him. Jesus wants each person to let go of their life; and let us surrender it to Him. Before Jesus Christ every knee bends; all unbelief is diluted. When everyday events overwhelm us, when our faith falters; let us cry out to Him who can repair the breaches so that He may raise His sun which would come to enlighten our faith. Even the disciple who lacks faith and fails in his work, let him cry out to the Lord instead of arguing with ordinary people. Let us not justify ourselves for our failures but let us call on Jesus to come and help us. Let us no longer be incredulous but ask the Lord to solidify our faith. Excellent Thursday of success in the faith. Amen Alain Louz.-
