Theme: "The hope of God's children"
Text: Romans 8:17-18
17. And if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may be glorified together. 18. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Let us remember:
Hope is the feeling of confidence in the future, which leads us to expect with confidence the realization of what we desire. Our hope is based on God. It is assurance, expectation, certainty, confidence, conviction, hope, optimism. Hope is close to faith with a few differences. The hope of God's children is therefore their deep aspiration, it is the confidence they have. The hope of God's children is lived in faith on a daily basis. We are children of God; because God engendered us before our birth. This was confirmed on the day of the new birth in Christ. Our hope is not to become children of God because we already are. We no longer aspire to what we already possess; but we maintain and preserve it. We are also heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, in order to be glorified with him. An heir must take on the assets but also the liabilities. He does not choose the things to inherit but he takes everything into his own account. He takes the joys but also the sufferings. The liabilities can be made up of debts, conflicts to be settled. God's children have the certainty of joy because they belong to the author of all joy. But they also take up their cross, they move forward without complaining. The hope of God's children is that our earthly/heavenly future is more glorious than the present days. We move forward from glory to glory, from victory to victory, from joy to joy. The sufferings of the present time are temporary. Excellent Monday. Amen
