Theme: "The Christian and the Use of Christian Freedom."
Text: 1 Corinthians 10:23-33

23. All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful, but not all things edify. 24. Let no one seek his own benefit, but each one the benefit of another. 25. Whatever is sold in the market, eat without questioning for conscience sake. 26. For the earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness. 27. If an unbeliever invites you, and you want to go, eat whatever is set before you, without questioning for conscience sake. 28. But if anyone says to you, "This has been offered as a sacrifice," do not eat it, for the sake of him who gave the warning, and for the sake of conscience. 29. I am not speaking here of your conscience, but of the other person's. For why should my freedom be judged by a foreign conscience? 30. If I eat with thanksgiving, why should I be blamed for what I give thanks for? 31. Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32. Do not cause offense, either to the Greeks or to the Jews or to the church of God, 33. just as I also please everyone in everything, not seeking my own advantage but that of the many, so that they may be saved.

Remember:

We live in a modern civilization in which many things have changed over the past few centuries. The "self" has taken on a large role to the point where people only think of themselves. Modernism has taught people to think of themselves first, no matter what others say. The judgment of others no longer has a place because freedom has taken on a large volume within society. However, Paul teaches us that "All things are permissible, but not all things are useful; all things are permissible, but not all things edify." Let us choose what to do and what to avoid. There is a fine line between what is permissible and what is not. Everyone pulls the blanket to their own side by asserting their freedom. People are capable of crushing the freedom of others just to enhance their own. Let us not seek our own interest, but let each seek that of his neighbor. Let us watch over our individual freedom and not affect that of others. God is the owner of this world, let us follow His instructions and not refuse Him if He directs us in any direction. May selfishness not be our support to justify a false and depraved freedom. Let us nurture our freedom without restricting that of others. In eating, drinking, clothing, and other things, let us not violate the freedom of our neighbor. Let us not be a scandal to one another, nor to the Church of God. Our Christian freedom must not distance us from our neighbor, for we have the mission to save a greater number of souls. Have a wonderful Saturday. Amen.
