Topic: “Being Renewed and Strengthened for the Sake of All”
Text: Ephesians 2:1-7
1. You were dead in trespasses and sins, 2. in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience. 3. Among them were we all, who once lived in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as others... 4. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5. even though we were dead in trespasses, has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved); 6. raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7. that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Remember:
The greatest joy for any Christian who is grateful is to have been lifted from the lot of the eternal dead. We were doomed to eternal destruction, our place already reserved in Gehenna. We were qualified sinners who delighted in evil. The devil kept control of our thoughts, our emotions, our actions; he was the one who dictated the law and told us what to do. Living in the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and our thoughts, seemed right and normal. It was so until God took hold of his love and commanded his only Son to die for the burden of our errors in order to deliver us from this death. Through the work of the cross, Jesus canceled all the condemnations that weighed on us. He delivered us from the prison of sin. He made us free. He took our faults and gave us his purity. In short, our God renewed and strengthened us for the good of all. He even changed our lifestyle and our way of thinking. By getting to know Jesus Christ, we are resurrected from spiritual death, we are renewed and strengthened. Our nature changes and we become citizens of heaven, people of the house of God. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
