Thanksgiving

Sunday, January 5, 2025

Theme: "Thanksgiving"

Text: Colossians 3:16-17

16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teaching and admonishing one another with all wisdom, in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God. 17. And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Let us remember:

In our environments and in our lives, there is nothing that should take precedence except the Word of God. It must be the epicenter of our whole life. Through it, we have salvation in Jesus Christ. Let us then take the time to instruct ourselves through it, by building powerful fortresses of faith. If we are firmly strengthened by the Word of God, our faith will always remain stable. We will understand that the Christian life or simply life on earth does not consist of asking every day. We must build our life on thanksgiving. God is more pleased with this than asking for what he has already resolved to give us of his own free will. Often, asking takes the form of breaking down a door that is already open. God himself knows that we have needs. He also knows that some requests are only whims and not an absolute necessity. But thanksgiving is a true expression of gratitude. It is the result of a heart filled with gratitude even in spite of finding what this same heart desires. This is why it is preferable to spend time giving thanks to our God. Even humans like to be told thank you. Humans hate ingratitude and casualness. They do not like it when people come to ask them for the same things every day. For each thing done, let us give thanks. For what we say and what others say to us, let us give thanks. For life, faith, salvation, love, peace, justice, hunger, joy, tears, thirst, destitution, battles, injustices, struggles, failures, daily challenges, in short, let us give thanks for everything. Excellent Sunday. Amen
