Topic: “Thanksgiving

Text: Acts 3:1-9

1. Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, which was the ninth hour. 2. There was a man lame from birth, who was carried and placed daily at the gate of the temple that is called Beautiful, to beg alms of those entering the temple. 3. And when he saw Peter and John about to enter, he begged alms of them. 4. And Peter, with John, fixed his eyes on him and said, Look at us. 5. And he looked attentively at them, expecting to receive something from them. 6. Then Peter said to him, Silver and gold have I none; but what I have I give to you: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. 7. And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up. And immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength; 8. and he leaped up and began to walk. And he entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God. 9. And all the people saw him walking and praising God.

Let us remember:

There are many reasons for thanksgiving, since joy and sorrow are occasions for doing so. Let us give thanks that God has made us Christians, beloved sons. Let us give thanks that we find time to go to the temple. Let us give thanks that even when we are weak, people help us to go to the temple. There were people who lifted up the lame man, but we have people who lift us up with exhortations, invitations, flyers, in order to go to the temple. Let us give thanks for all those who share alms with us. Likewise, let us give thanks for what God gives us the ability to share with others. Let us give thanks for our faith which is reactive and firm to the point of making visible and invisible miracles. Let us give thanks for the miracles we experience. We have a God who answers our prayers, let us tell him our gratitude for everything. When we have the possibility of walking, of moving from one point to another, let us give thanks because it is an undeserved favor. Let us give thanks for salvation, life, health and for the security graciously acquired in Jesus who gives them to us without asking anything in return. Going to the temple is a way of giving thanks to God, a way of testifying to the goodness and grace of God. Excellent Saturday. Amen
