Topic: “Thanksgiving”
Text: 2 Corinthians 4:15
15. For all this is for your sake, so that the grace that has multiplied may abound through the thanksgiving of many to the glory of God.
Let us remember:
We are tossed about every day. Struggles outside and fears within, our minds are wavering and sometimes we are incredulous in the face of the relentlessness that falls upon us. Despite the graces and blessings that God had placed within our reach, we coo like pigeons. We weep over our inability to change life. The divine treasure is in our hands but we do not take advantage of it, we do not know how to use it well. We carry this treasure in earthen vessels, so that this great power may be attributed to God, and not to us. We are hard pressed in every way, but not crushed; in distress, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not lost. It is when God gives us a helping hand, when he stretches out his hand to us; like a parent who rushes to the aid of his child who is learning to walk; it is there that we stand and are sure to advance without fear. All this happens so that grace, by multiplying, makes thanksgiving abound to the greater number. Our light afflictions work for us an eternal weight of glory, so that we look not at the things which are seen, which are fleeting, but at the things which are unseen and eternal. All this helps us to depend on God, to always give him thanks. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
