Topic: “Spiritual Awakening and Discernment”
Text: 1 John 4:1-5
1. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God. 3. And every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not of God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming and is now already in the world. 4. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 5. They are of the world; therefore they speak according to the world, and the world listens to them.
Let us remember:
What destroys spiritual revival is the strong intrusion of the tares. The weed has so infiltrated the body of Christ that it has led many into demonic ways. In various ways, the devil is celebrated everywhere. We believe in everything that is taught to us without taking the time to discern the message. We love God so much that we think that all those who speak of Him are really His envoys. The evildoers quickly understood that naivety is at work among Christians; they use it to drown us in drowsiness. Let us not believe in every spirit; let us test them, to know if they are of God, because many are in the false. The agents of the devil come fishing in the churches and they leave with weak souls. Several verses have been taken out of context to give them a pejorative connotation serving to confuse the understanding of the audience. The Spirit of God confesses Jesus Christ; if he confesses the lure of gain, it is Mammon. If he confesses fornication, it is Jezebel. If he confesses love, salvation, peace then it is the Spirit of God. Any spirit that does not confess Jesus is not of God, it is that of the antichrist. The spirit of the antichrist is already in the world, it arrogates to itself the powers of God without being God. Let us recognize it by its lies, doubt, hatred, division, hypocrisy, pride and many other evils. It does not hold on to the truth. This is why let us read the Word of God under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to better discern and continue to be in spiritual awakening. We have overcome, because he who is in us is greater than the devil. Excellent Thursday. Amen
