Topic: “Spiritual Awakening and Discernment”
Text: Matthew 7:15-23
15. Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16. You will recognize them by their fruits. Do people gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17. Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20. Therefore you will recognize them by their fruits. 21. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22. Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? have we not cast out demons in your name? and have we not done many miracles in your name? 23. Then I will tell them openly: I never knew you; depart from me, you who work iniquity.
Let us remember:
The historical date of Sunday, January 19, 1947 marks the strong visitation of God in Ngouedi (Congo), when God poured out his Spirit on his servants and handmaids during a worship service. God reproached them for a life of disobedience to his Word, and wanted sincere repentance. Obviously, each person humbly recognized their sins and there was a wave of spiritual revival that took off from that day. Signs, miracles and wonders were palpable. This wave spread throughout the country and the sub-region. Even today, many of us are in falsehood or disobedience. We have drowned out spiritual revival, we have extinguished discernment. The preached Word no longer has a great return effect, as if it had lost its power. But this is due to our spiritual weakness, our spiritual sleep. We are almost no longer, if not very little, obedient to the voice of the Spirit of God, which is the engine of revival. The false servants of God have intruded into the Christian environment, they have stifled the wind of revival, they have imposed spiritual drowsiness. It is our fault, we have not used discernment. We have been fooled. While we saw the bad fruits of certain servants, but we followed them blindly and without discernment. God forbids us to eat the bad fruit because it is deadly. We rely on the Word of God to do bad things. Let us wake up and flee from sin to remain in the blossoming spiritual revival. Let us bear good fruit. Let us use discernment so as not to be rejected on the day of the Lord. Excellent Sunday. Amen
