Theme: “Looking back prevents progress” Text: 1 Samuel 30:7-10
7. He said to the priest Abiathar son of Ahimelech: Bring me the ephod! Abiathar brought the ephod to David. 8. And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue this army? will I reach it? The LORD answered him, Pursue, for thou shalt overtake, and thou shalt deliver. 9. And David set out, he and the six hundred men who were with him. They arrived at the torrent of Besor, where those who remained behind stopped. 10. David continued the pursuit with four hundred men; two hundred men stopped, too tired to cross the torrent of Besor.
Let's remember:
A work sponsored by El Shaddaï the almighty God, should not be stopped even when there would be nearly half of the participants who would defect. We should not doubt the continuation of the project because some accuse fatigue and decide not to continue. The Lord walks with the brave and not with the weak, even if he is the God who gives us strength. The Eternal God loves those who ask Him for strength when they lack it. Isaiah 40:29. "The Lord God gives strength to the weary, and increases the strength to the faint." As for those who have the bravery to advance towards the fight, they should not lose hope by seeing the large number of teammates annoyed by fatigue. They must not look back lest they be contaminated with the state of mind leading to fatigue. With the Lord, no matter how few walk with you, victory is always certain because it is “God who exercises our hands in battle, our fingers in battle” Ps 144.1. David's troop wouldn't have gotten far had they looked back to where the 1/3 languished in fatigue. She would have hesitated to pursue the enemy if she had been won over by the feeling of doubt caused by the abandonment of certain combatants. No matter, especially when it is God who is in charge, the road is serene and the victory assured in advance. Perked up by this assurance, we can no longer look back so as not to undermine God's grace and impede progress. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
