Topic: “The Relationships of God’s Children to One Another”
Text: Romans 12:5-10
5. So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and members one of another. 6. Having gifts differing according to the grace given to us, let him who has the gift of prophecy use it according to the proportion of faith. 7. Let him who is called to the ministry devote himself to his ministry; he who teaches, to his doctrine. 8. And he who exhorts, to exhortation. Let him who gives do it with generosity; let him who rules do it with diligence; let him who shows mercy do it with cheerfulness. 9. Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling firmly to what is good. 10. In brotherly love, be affectionate to one another; in honor, be considerate of one another.
Let us remember:
Paul gives us a specification inherent in the good practice of Christian life, especially in relationships. The interactions of God's children with each other must not resemble those of pagans. God's children are all one, despite their great number. We form one body in Christ, and we are all members of one another. This unity excludes tribal-ethnic inclinations, and places Jesus at the center. Each member of the body of Christ is called to use the graces received from God, in order to facilitate peace, cohesion, unity; which is of great benefit in relationships between God's children. Among these graces are the gifts, services, operations, abilities and all the individual manifestations of the Holy Spirit. It is a question of putting each gift, each ability at the service of our neighbor, without expecting anything in return. Each member who receives a generosity must show his gratitude in order to avoid frustrations. Let us put all our skills in the public square in order to help the other members of our communities. Let us not throw sand in the work of our neighbor. Let us not covet the work of our neighbor but give thanks to God for what he accomplishes. Let us encourage and perpetuate good works. Let us respect the difference in gifts in order to collaborate in complementarity without hindering the action of our neighbor. Let us banish hypocrisy, let us abhor evil; let us cling strongly to good, let us be full of affection for one another. Excellent Thursday. Amen
