Theme: "The Presence of God"
Text: Genesis 28:15
15. Behold, I am with you, and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you, until I have fulfilled what I have spoken to you.
Let us remember:
This promise was made to Jacob in a vision when he was exhausted and sleeping halfway through his journey. Jacob had rested his head on a stone as a bedside. God being the cornerstone, he revealed himself to him during the night. When he woke up, Jacob understood that he was in the presence of God. He said it in these terms: "Certainly the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it! How awesome is this place! This is the house of God, this is the gate of heaven!" (in verses 16;17). Jacob was afraid of the presence of God. Instead of rejoicing, he became afraid because he saw his condition of anguish, sadness, pain, doubts, uncertainty. In such a state of mind, he said he was unworthy of being in the presence of God. But the Lord had made a promise from which we also benefit. In the presence of God, there are wonderful, unexpected and ineffable promises. The Lord God brings us into his presence to impact his visitation, to grant us what we lack and to manifest his accompaniment even when we believe ourselves vulnerable. From then on, Jacob was reassured. He had understood that God was not only the God of his Father Abraham, but he was also his. Let us appropriate this God and enter into his presence to have secure days in this world. Excellent Wednesday. Amen
