Theme : “ The place of the Holy Scriptures in the ministry of Jesus Christ ”
Text : Matthew 8:14-17
14. Jesus then went to the house of Peter, where he saw the mother-in-law lying down and having a fever. 15. He touched his hand, and the fever left it; then she got up and served him. 16. In the evening several demoniacs were brought to Jesus. He cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all the sick, 17. that it might be fulfilled which had been spoken by Isaiah the prophet: He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.
Let's remember:
The Holy Scriptures are fulfilled in Jesus. What the prophets foretold has come to pass. Here Jesus relieves the sick of their burdens; it replaces with healing, peace and in addition it grants eternal salvation. Jesus soiled his life by bearing our sins so that we would be clean before God the Father. The chastisement that gives us peace fell on him, And it is by his wounds that we are healed. Peter's mother-in-law saw Jesus fulfill this Word to the point where she gave thanks by serving him. For her to heal, Jesus had touched her. However, the other sick were cured by the use of the Holy Scriptures. Jesus made prophetic statements from the Holy Scriptures, and people were healed. Note that Jesus always relied on the Holy Scriptures. Today, the Holy Scriptures retain the same authority of yesteryear, the same efficacy, the same power. Let us go into his presence to remind him of his promises made in the Holy Scriptures. Excellent Friday and good start into the weekend. Amen Alain Louz.-
