Theme: "The Christian and the Use of Christian Freedom."

Text: 1 Corinthians 8:9-10

9. But beware lest your freedom become a stumbling block for the weak. 10. For if anyone sees you, who have knowledge, sitting at a table in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, even though he is weak, lead him to eat things sacrificed to idols?

Let us remember:

Our freedom in Christ must not be an open door to licentiousness. Let us not make freedom a source of frustration for our neighbor. Let us be careful that our freedom does not become a stumbling block for the weak. There are those who hold opinions contrary to ours. Let us be careful that our opposing opinions do not offend their faith. Let us be careful about our dress, our language, our companions, our diet. What we eat and drink can create confusion within the body of Christ. If a drunkard comes to preach to an audience, he will lack credibility. Let us take into account the level of faith of our neighbor, for we can push him towards the exit door. Our Christian freedom must take into account the weaknesses of those who have not yet experienced it. Thus, the weak will perish because we have misused our freedom. Now, Christ died to save those who are weak in faith, sinners. Let us preserve them from any excess of Christian freedom. Our freedom can cause the one for whom Jesus died to sin. We will be held responsible for his fall. Therefore, if a food scandalizes our neighbor, let us not eat it. If a drink, an outfit, a language, or anything else scandalizes our neighbor, let us make an about-face so as not to be a stumbling block. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
