Theme: “The Life of Daniel”
Text: Daniel 10:1-12
1. In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar. This word, which is true, announces a great calamity. He listened to this word, and he understood the vision. 2. At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. 3. I ate no delicacy, neither meat nor wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself until the three weeks were completed. 4. On the twenty-fourth day of the first month I was by the great river Hiddekel. 5. And I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and, behold, there was a man clothed in linen, and having upon his loins a girdle of gold from Uphaz. 6. His body was like chrysolite, his face shone like lightning, his eyes were like flames of fire, his arms and feet were like polished brass, and the sound of his voice was like the noise of 'many. 7. I, Daniel, saw the vision alone, and the men who were with me did not see it, but were seized with great fear, and they fled and hid themselves. 8. I remained alone, and saw this great vision; my strength failed me, my face changed color and was decomposed, and I lost all vigor. 9. I heard the sound of his words; and as I heard the sound of his words, I fell stunned, face down on the ground. 10. And, behold, a hand touched me, and shook my knees and my hands. 11. Then he said to me, Daniel, beloved man, pay attention to the words that I will speak to you, and stand where you are; for I am now sent to you. When he had thus spoken to me, I stood trembling. 12. He said to me: Daniel, do not be afraid; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and it is because of your words that I come.
Let's remember:
Daniel's life teaches us wonderful lessons. Whoever reads the book of Daniel attentively and keeps its teachings will increase his wealth of wisdom. God did great things with Daniel through his good heart and dedication. Daniel took the problems of his nation to heart. He raised prayers for his people. He was in mourning for three weeks. He did not eat any delicacies, nor did he put meat or wine into his mouth, nor did he anoint himself until the three weeks were completed. To this end, God responded to him by answering his prayers. God visited him and spoke to his face. God also revealed himself to him through visions, in broad daylight, among several other people who felt a strong divine presence; these people fled to hide because they could not stand the divine presence. But Daniel knew that we cannot escape the visitation of God. He knew it was the greatest moment to live, especially when you are pure before His face. Daniel knew that God was not there to chastise him but to tell him good things. God called Daniel, a beloved man. The angel of God spoke to him, telling him that he was sent for him. Even trembling, Daniel remained before the face of God; he did not turn away from it. Intercession and sanctification pay off. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
