Theme: "The Christian facing anti-values"
Text: 1 Timothy 6:3-5
3. If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not hold to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine that is according to godliness, 4. he is puffed up with pride, he knows nothing, and is sick of idle questions and disputes of words, from which come envy, strife, slander, evil surmisings, 5. vain discussions of men of corrupt minds, deprived of the truth, and supposing that godliness is a source of gain.
Let us remember:
To face anti-values, the Christian must not teach false doctrines, he must rather hold to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine that is according to godliness. By insisting on the sound words of Jesus, we will block the road to the expansion of anti-values. Let us therefore not allow false doctrines to take root within the Church. Whoever chooses to teach false doctrines is proud and ignorant. This clumsiness could close the door to the kingdom of heaven to him if he does not repent. He will put his life in danger and also those of his followers. He will accentuate the growth of anti-values. To live in such conditions is to be a partisan of anti-values. This kind of person likes to pursue vain disputes of words that debase the faith. He also has the disease of idle questions. We call an idle question a question that is useless, empty of meaning, without interest. It is a futile, useless, sterile, vain question. Idle questions give rise to envy, quarrels, slander, evil suspicions, and vain discussions of men corrupt in understanding, deprived of the truth, and believing that piety is a source of gain. Let us be holy and distance ourselves from anti-values. Excellent Sunday. Amen
