Topic: "The Christian Faces Anti-Values"
Text: Galatians 5:19-22
19. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: fornication, impurity, lasciviousness, 20. idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, wrath, disputes, divisions, heresies, 21. envy, drunkenness, revelry, and things like these. I tell you before, as I said before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;
Let us remember:
Anti-values are bad values, behaviors that go against ethics. This expression is used by politicians to condemn moral values that are contrary to good morals. Within the church, we speak of sins or iniquities. But politicians cannot speak of sins because of the secular nature of the State. The risk for Christians to perpetuate such expressions would be to weaken the incidence of sin in our lives. It is also to begin to believe that anti-values are something other than sins. It is nevertheless clear that even in the Christian environment, anti-values are not tolerated because they wage war on faith and the soul if not on the Spirit of God. The dictionary gives as examples of anti-values aggressiveness, wickedness, irresponsibility, sneakiness... but the dictionary will not say that homosexuality is part of the anti-values. This is the clear boundary between the word antivalues and sin. Antivalues are therefore the works of the flesh such as fornication, impurity, lasciviousness, idolatry, magic, enmities, quarrels, jealousies, animosities, disputes, divisions, sects, envy, drunkenness, excesses at the table, and similar things. Excellent Monday without antivalues. Amen
