Theme: "The Christian, a reflection of Christ"
Text: John 13:12-15
12. After he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, he sat down again, and said to them, Do you understand what I have done to you? 13. You call me Teacher and Lord; and you say well, for so I am. 14. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet; 15. for I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
Let us remember:
If there is one area where there is no prohibition on reproducing the same gestures and activities, it is that of faith. Elsewhere, there are copyrights and other related rights. But Jesus even recommends that we reproduce his gestures. We can copy without paying him anything. He would be very pleased to see us do exactly what he had done. However, there is a risk if we copy false servants who present us with a holy face but their interior is a kidnapper seeking to rage among the peaceful sheep of God. Let us copy what is biblical and directly linked to Jesus' recommendations. By washing the feet of his disciples, Jesus taught us to live in love and to practice self-giving. This is so that we learn to support each other and to serve our neighbor. It is also the example of humility and sacrifice. There is also the notion of coming to the aid of those who have dirty feet but who neglect to clean them. In short, Jesus shows us the interest of loving ourselves to the point of forgetting what makes us great and descending very low to clean the dirt from the feet that have walked in the mud. When our hands get dirty cleaning the feet of others, it is proof that we love them because we accept to get dirty so that they are clean. This is exactly the symbol of the work of the cross: to die so that humanity may live. Let us do as Jesus did; let us be his reflection. Excellent Sunday. Amen
