Theme : " Singing as a means of expression and communication of the gospel "
Text : Luke 1: 46-55
46. And Mary said, My soul exalts the Lord, 47. And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48. Because he has looked on the baseness of his handmaid. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed, 49. Because the Almighty has done great things for me. His name is holy, 50. And his mercy extends from age to age On those who fear him. 51. He has displayed the strength of his arm; He scattered those who had proud thoughts in their hearts. 52. He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and he has exalted the lowly. 53. He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. 54. He helped Israel his servant, And he remembered his mercy, - 55. As he had said to our fathers, -Towards Abraham and his seed forever.
Let us remember :
This hymn of Mary is the account of the promises made by God to Abraham. By singing these words, Mary restores the message that God gave to Abraham several centuries before his era. These promises in the process of being fulfilled were put into a song which today serves as a teaching. Mary teaches us the attitudes to adopt when we are in God's plans. A person who waits for the fulfillment of God's promises must abide in praise, worship, thanksgiving. In the first book of Samuel in chapter 2, we find an almost identical hymn sung by Anna. This is the proof that Mary was versed in the scriptures since she could repeat the words that God said before Abraham. Singing is an effective tool in teaching the Word of God. Excellent Friday and good entry into the weekend. Amen
