Theme: “Respect for the word of God: Source of blessing for families”
Text: Colossians 3:20-21
20. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is acceptable in the Lord. 21. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, lest they become discouraged.
Let's remember:
It is a divine instruction that calls children to conform to their parents. We sometimes seek to do what is pleasing in the Lord. You simply have to obey your parents, that is what is pleasing in the Lord. We can ask ourselves the question of what will those who no longer have parents do? They must respect God who is the legendary Father who brought all life into existence. Let us know that our neighbor's parents are also ours; we owe them respect and obedience. Children who do not respect their parents should not be surprised to find that other people do not respect them as well. It would be illogical for such a child to want his parents to be respected. When a disobedient child grows up, when he has his children, he will demand respect and obedience from them; which he never did towards his parents. God demands respect from children just as He demands that parents not irritate their children, lest they become discouraged. In God, we do not learn that the things of eternal life, even societal common sense issues, have pride of place. It is inconsistent to respect God without respecting parents. The opposite also leaves something to be desired. God only blesses families who keep his word. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
