Theme: “Reconciliation: Source of Material and Spiritual Blessings for a Church" Text: Leviticus 16:16-19 16. Thus he shall make atonement for the sanctuary for the uncleanness of the children of Israel and for all the transgressions by which they have sinned. He will do the same for the tent of meeting, which is with them in the midst of their impurities. 17. There will be no one in the tent of meeting when he enters to make atonement in the sanctuary, until he comes out. He will make atonement for himself, and for his house, and for all the congregation of Israel. 18. Going out, he shall go to the altar which is before the LORD, and he shall make atonement for the altar; he will take the blood of the bull and of the goat and put it on the horns of the altar all around. 19. He shall sprinkle the blood on the altar with his finger seven times; he will purify and sanctify it, because of the impurities of the children of Israel. Remember: The confession of sins mechanic used to be an obstacle course that took a very long time and required money to buy the animal to offer as a sacrifice. Glory be to our God for the gift of Jesus Christ who shortened this pattern by offering his own body for the forgiveness of mankind. According to the continuation of the verses of this day, in verse 21; it is written: "Aaron shall lay his two hands on the head of the living goat, and he will confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel and all the transgressions in which they have sinned; he will put them on the head of the goat, and then he will drive him out into the wilderness, with a man who will have this charge. The goat will carry away all their iniquities upon him in a desolate land; he will be driven out into the wilderness." This explains why Jesus had been dragged out of the city to suffer the martyrdom of the crucifixion. It was to take away all the sin of misguided mankind, and then reconcile the world to God. The goat that carried the sin of the people is replaced by Jesus the Christ. Let us therefore confess the sins that surround us so easily and be reconciled to our Heavenly Father; it is the key to material and spiritual blessings. Good start into the weekend.
