Theme: "Family motivated to serve the Lord."

Text: 1 Samuel 7:1-3

1. The men of Kirjath-jearim came and brought up the ark of the LORD and brought it to the house of Abinadab on the hill, and they consecrated Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. 2. Now many days had passed since the day the ark was set down in Kirjath-jearim. Twenty years had passed. Then the whole house of Israel wailed before the LORD. 3. Samuel said to all the house of Israel, If you return to the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and set your hearts before the LORD, and serve him only; and he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.

Let us remember:

There is only one way to reconquer the heart of God. When we have mixed God and idols, when we have been unfaithful in our activities, there is no longer any recourse except repentance. This is a sincere and strict repentance. We must remove the compromises and idolatrous inclinations that are guilt-inducing before the face of God. The entire family of Israel, with one and the same heart, took its situation in hand. It recognized its fragility and instability for having stumbled on the dark side of life in the service of idols. The entire family, motivated for the service of the Lord, decided to return to the sources to drink. God is the source of supply in repentance, in faith, in forgiveness, in holiness in short, God alone is capable of providing for our needs. It is therefore imperative to direct our hearts to the Lord, and to serve Him alone. Thus He will deliver us from the hand of the Philistines of this century. Each Christian has become a priest of God according to the priesthood received in Jesus who made us priests for God. Let us be the Samuel of our family. Samuel spoke to the whole house (family) of Israel, saying: If you return to the Lord with all your heart, put away foreign gods from among you; and serve Him alone. It was a family motivated for the service of the Lord. Excellent Wednesday. Amen.
