Theme: "Praise, a musical style or a lifestyle?"
Text: Isaiah 29:13, 14
13. The Lord said: When this people draws near to me, they honor me with their mouth and their lips; but their heart is far from me, and the fear that they have of me Is only a precept of human tradition. 14. Therefore I will strike this people again With wonders and signs; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the intelligence of their prudent men will disappear.
Let us remember:
The cult of formalism, the praise of the lips, the false devotion are the problems that this text poses. To manifest something while hiding the true intention is pure and hard hypocrisy. Now, hypocrisy is a lack of respect, of love towards the one who is its victim. It is also a contempt towards God. Pretending to praise God when in reality it is just a false impression; it is almost an abomination. Praise must not be done in lies and hypocrisy. The starting point of praise must be the heart; a sincere heart, a well-disposed heart, honest, pure, full of love. We must purify the vessel that must contain praise: the heart. Before praising God, we must first adopt an attitude of recognition of our sins, and recognize the grace of God who forgives us. We must ask forgiveness for our errors before filling our hearts with praise. It is when we are pure that we can count the blessings of God, in order to fill them in our hearts by being convinced of the works that he has accomplished in us and in our neighbor but also in the universe. All gathered together becomes a perfume of good odor that can rise to God. Perfume of praise that he will inhale and accept. Praise is not a tradition but a lifestyle. Excellent Sunday. Amen
