Theme: “Let us thank the Lord for his blessings”
Text: Psalms 147:7-9
7. Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving, sing praises to our God with the harp! 8. He covers the heavens with clouds, He prepares rain for the earth; He makes grass sprout on the mountains. 9. He gives food to the cattle, to the young of the crow when they cry,
Let's remember:
This psalm which is attributed to David gives us a strong description of some areas of God's definition. There are extended the actions that the Lord God performs. It is the greatness of God which is thus described in strong words. We know that humans cannot describe God's action exhaustively because the totality of God's work is truly indescribable, as it is so widespread across all ages. The works of God are eternal because he himself is eternal. However, what our intelligence allows us to capture must be celebrated and announced to the world. This is why this psalm marks an attitude of gratitude towards God. It is the expression of a man filled with all kinds of spiritual blessings, who comes to recognize the love with which he is loved by God and thanks him for it. The benefits of God dazzle us, let us make them actions of thanks. Let us bring our gratitude to God to testify to our joy in having him as our Father. The expression “thanksgiving” comes from the Hebrew word “shelem” which means: peace offering, reward, sacrifice for alliance or friendship, voluntary sacrifice of thanks, thanksgiving. This can be done in the form of an offering, or even a sacrifice (we then speak of a sacrifice of thanksgiving), but also quite simply a prayer in which we say thank you to God. Let us thank or give thanks to the Lord for his blessings. Have a great Thursday. Amen
