Theme: “The testimony of the Christian in a perverse world”
Text: Ephesians 5:4-7
4. Let no one hear dishonest words, nor foolish remarks, nor jokes, things which are contrary to propriety; Let us instead hear thanksgiving. 5. For know this well, no one who is immoral, or impure, or covetous, that is, an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6. Let no one deceive you with vain speeches; for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of rebellion. 7. Therefore have no part with them.
Let's remember:
From the mouth of the Christian must never again come senseless words. The Christian is a child of God and, as such, he is endowed with divine wisdom. His words must be instructive as words of exhortation which give glory to the Lord God and help to strengthen the faith. Jokes are comments intended to make people laugh, to amuse. These are words or actions intended to make fun. The Lord God forbids them because the border with sin is very fine and imperceptible. Jokingly, we will be close to committing a sin if we have not already committed it. Let us not speak dishonest words. Dishonest words are any words contrary to modesty, licentious or inappropriate remarks. These are remarks contrary to probity and loyalty. The Christian's testimony in a perverse world must be free from dishonest words, foolish remarks, and jokes. We must not find impudence, impurities and also greed in our lives, and in those of those we are around. It’s only when it comes to telling them the good news that we can rub shoulders with this category of people. Let no one deceive us with vain speeches; to the point of making us bear bad witness. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
