Theme: “The testimony of the Christian in a perverse world”
Text: 1 John 1:1-3
1. Which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and which our hands have touched, concerning the word of life, 2. for the life has been manifested , and we have seen it and bear witness to it, and proclaim to you eternal life, which was with the Father and has been revealed to us, 3. what we have seen and heard we declare to you, you also, so that you also may have communion with us. Now, our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
Let's remember:
Testimony is the declaration of what one has seen and heard, serving to establish the truth. It is the action of bearing witness, of reporting what we know. Testimony serves to preserve and transmit the memory of events. It is about the duty of memory, so that future generations remember what happened in order to perpetuate it; or not to repeat the mistakes of the past. Here, testimony also takes on the meaning of conduct, behavior, lifestyle, attitude. Good witness allows us to help others live a spiritual lifestyle centered on Jesus Christ. The testimony can be good or bad. However, good testimony is a divine grace, an action of the Holy Spirit imprinted on our lives and which we fight to preserve by relying on God himself. It is not possible to impose testimony on a person because we do not have the authority to stifle a person's free choice. Nevertheless, we have the ability to bear witness to all that we have heard, seen with our eyes, looked upon, and touched with our hands concerning the word of life. We can testify of God's greatness, faithfulness, love, patience and eternal salvation. We can witness to the world the beauty of belonging to God and his kingdom in order to share the same faith and live eternity together in Christ. Have a great Monday. Amen
