Theme: “Let us thank the Lord for his blessings”
Text: 2 Samuel 22:47-51
47. As the LORD lives, and blessed be my rock! May God, the rock of my salvation, be exalted, 48. The God who is my avenger, Who subdues the peoples to me, 49. And who makes me escape from my enemies! You raise me above my adversaries, You deliver me from the violent man. 50. Therefore will I praise you among the nations, O LORD; And I will sing to the glory of your name. 51. He gives great deliverance to his king, and has mercy on his anointed, David, and his descendants forever.
Let's remember:
David comes to sing his gratitude to the God of his victories. He had gone through very difficult ordeals at the risk of his life. His only help came from the Lord God although he was surrounded by a large number of mercenaries who were at his service; but they could not do better than the Lord. David was therefore delivered by the mighty hand of God. This is how he comes to give thanks to Him with this song. Let us note that the waves of death had surrounded him, the torrents of destruction had terrified him; the bonds of the sepulcher had surrounded him, the nets of death had surprised him. In his distress he called upon the Lord his God. From his palace God had heard his voice, and his cry had reached his ears. For all this, David extols his King, the God of his battles and his victories. With his eyes, David had seen the earth shake and tremble, he had seen the foundations of the heavens tremble. David resolved to thank the Lord for his blessings. For him, God is the rock of his salvation; God is his avenger, God subjects people to him, God makes him escape from his enemies and elevates him above his adversaries, he delivers him from violent man. The Lord God does all these things for us and our families too. So, let us thank our God for his blessings. Let us be grateful and go into His presence with shouts of joy. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
