Theme: “Communion is also the sharing of goods“
Text: Joshua 22:1-8
1. Then Joshua called the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. 2. He said to them, You have observed all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and you have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you. 3. You have not forsaken your brethren for a long space of time until this day; and you have kept the orders, the commandments of the LORD your God. 4. Now that the LORD your God has given rest to your brothers, as he had spoken to them, return and go to your tents in your land, and that Moses the servant of the LORD, gave you across the Jordan. 5. Take care only to observe and put into practice the ordinances and the laws which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you: love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, keep his commandments, cleave yourselves to him, and serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. 6. And Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went to their tents. 7. Moses had given half of the tribe of Manasseh an inheritance in Bashan, and Joshua gave the other half an inheritance from his brothers on this side of the Jordan in the west. When Joshua sent them back to their tents, he blessed them, 8. and said to them, "You will return to your tents with great riches, with many flocks, and with a great quantity of silver, gold, bronze , Iron, and Clothing. Share with your brothers the spoils of your enemies.
Let's remember:
Communion is based, among other things, on fraternity. For a successful communion, it is necessary to solidify the fraternity. The Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh are a lesson of brotherhood and communion which must be taught in order to serve as a model. The valiant men of these tribes abandoned their cattle / herds, children, women in short they abandoned their families to go and help their brothers for years. This is true communion, true fraternity which translates into the gift of self, sacrifice and the abandonment of what has been acquired. It is certain that by abandoning their herds and their families, there was danger in the house because no one could take great care of them anymore. As the game was worth the candle, sacrifice took over selfishness. They refused to keep their lives, they went to the aid of their brothers. Joshua witnessing such a sacrifice and, as a reward for the sacrifice, he gave them an inheritance beyond the Jordan, in the west, so he blessed them. He gave them great wealth, with very numerous herds, and with a considerable quantity of silver, gold, brass, iron, and clothing. He instructed them to share the spoils of war with their brothers. Like what, communion is also the sharing of goods. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
