Theme: “Building Unity and Peace in the Church and Society”
Text: Luke 6:36-38
36. Be merciful, therefore, as your Father is merciful. 37. Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38. Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be put into your lap; for with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
Let us remember:
To build a Church living in unity and peace, we must use the relationship of reciprocity with our neighbor. Never expect from our neighbor what we have never given them. To put it simply, let us not expect anything in return; even when we are in the habit of giving to others. This would avoid putting ourselves in unnecessary frustrations. Also, we must use the same reciprocity in every area of life. If we judge others, it is certain that we will be judged. If we condemn our neighbor, the circumstances of life will make it so that a person judges us sooner or later. This game of ping-pong destroys unity and peace within the Church and society. Instead of building, we will kill unity and peace. However, God expects good works from us that could create perfect cohesion within the Church and society. In the same way that we adore God's mercy, let us also grant it to our neighbor. Let us not be stingy in mercy at the risk of blocking our blessing because to the one who gives, it will be given to him. Thus, let us absolve our neighbor, and we will be absolved. God gives us according to his grace and he does not neglect our generosity towards our neighbor. Excellent Sunday. Amen
