Theme: “Building Unity and Peace in the Church and Society”
Text: Romans 12:18
18. If it is possible, as much as it depends on you, live at peace with all men.
Let us remember:
It happens that our neighbor refuses to be at peace with us. For certain “obvious” or sometimes unjustified reasons, we see the faithful who fail to reconcile and live in peace. Some try to reconcile but after a while they become cold again. There are some who reconcile but just for the sake of it because the relationships remain tense or still conflictual. Servants of God and other friends, relatives and acquaintances can be called upon without succeeding in bringing back unity and peace. Unfortunately, these things sometimes happen among married couples with children; the same things also happen among servants of God and sometimes at the highest levels. If we want to make peace with our neighbor, let us be very sincere and avoid pretending. Hypocrisy must never take root in such a reconciliation at the risk of canceling everything. Let us give our whole heart to a reconquest of lost unity and peace. Let us watch over it with a firm and unwavering involvement. However, if it happens that our interlocutor refuses the peace that we desire with all our heart, let us not close the door. If dialogue is possible, let us take the time to ask him what his will is or what is the reason for his refusal. He could be convinced of something wrong or of a kind of misunderstanding that does not say its name. Let us be tolerant, let us spend a little time before relaunching the reconciliation. Failing that, we must involve the servants of God or other credible people, accepted by both parties. As long as it depends on us, let us remain at peace. Let us also be at peace with ourselves. Excellent Friday and a good start to the weekend. Amen
