Topic: “Being Renewed and Strengthened for the Good of All”
Text: Titus 3:3-7
3. For we also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5. not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6. whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7. that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Let us remember:
The Holy Spirit accomplishes a marvelous work of redemption by renewing us progressively and daily. We only have to abandon ourselves to our dependence and He changes the settings of our life. The Holy Spirit takes control of the life of anyone who abandons himself to Him. The prerequisites that precede the powerful action of the Holy Spirit are precise and clear. We must first recognize our fragility and our sins. Regret the occurrence of our iniquities and sincerely ask for forgiveness with a solemn commitment to no longer live in the mud of sin; therefore repent. Then, we must seek God's help by accepting Jesus Christ as the only Lord and personal Savior. Then accept His guiding line by counting only on Him for the rest of our life. This is where the Holy Spirit takes the direction of our life by illuminating it with the Holy Word of God. This is how the grace of God envelops us by making us invulnerable and resistant to sin. We receive the baptism of the Spirit, the baptism of fire, the renewal of intelligence. Our hope finds focus in Jesus Christ. Salvation becomes within our reach by grace through faith. This is what it means to be renewed and strengthened for the good of all. In the face of sin, the Holy Spirit strengthens us to stand firm. Excellent Sunday. Amen
