Theme: “We are set apart for God”
Text: 2 Corinthians 7:1
1. Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting our sanctification in the fear of God.
Let's remember:
In verse 4 of chapter 12 of the letter to the Hebrews it is written that “Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.” Before purifying ourselves from all filth, we must fight body and soul against sin. We must put up fierce resistance to it to remain pure. We are told to flee sin. Only, when a sin succeeds in bending us, then, without delay and without hesitation, let us quickly ask for purification and justification from the Lord God. We also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every burden and the sin that so easily envelops us, and let us run with perseverance in the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the Chief. and the finisher of faith, who, for the joy set before him, suffered the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting our sanctification in the fear of God. We are set apart for God. We have no reason to live according to the flesh. Let us live in sanctification; this is what is the sharing of something set apart. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
