Theme: “The Lord Jesus Christ comes to our aid”
Text: John 14:15-18
15. If you love me, keep my commandments. 16. And I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever, 17. the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not and does not know him; but you know him, for he abides with you, and he will be in you. 18. I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you.
Let's remember:
That is well said. Our Lord Jesus has just described the fusional relationship which should bind us to Him. The roles are well distributed and the missions well assigned. As for us, we must love God by keeping his commandments. Our love must translate into uninterrupted devotion to His Word and therefore firm obedience to it. As for our Lord; his mission is to pray to the Father, so that he gives us another comforter, so that he may remain with us forever. Jesus' action consists of bringing us help because he knows that we do not know how to ask. He does it in our place so that each person has the same access to the Father; and without sectarianism, favoritism or segregation in all their forms. His help puts us on the same footing, notwithstanding our origins, our social classes, our egos, our gender, our race, in short our differences will never interfere in the help that Jesus brings us. Thanks to the intercessory help of Jesus Christ, we will never again be orphans. We will no longer be abandoned to our sad fate. Thus, he provided for our desolation by sending us the Spirit of truth to dwell within us. Let us smile because the help of Jesus is exorbitant and continuous. He places it squarely in us. Welcome to us dear Holy Spirit. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
