Theme: “The Holy Spirit: his mission in the Church and society”
Text: John 14:15-18
15. If you love me, keep my commandments. 16. And I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever, 17. the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not and does not know him; but you know him, for he abides with you, and he will be in you. 18. I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you.
Let's remember:
Our Lord Jesus Christ had everything planned. In his omniscience, he knew that we would need comfort, support, consolation. He knew that in times of weakness, everyone needs a pick-me-up. He gave more than a pick-me-up, he gave a person that he integrated into us to be with us at every moment. Anyone who loves God and keeps his commandments will never be alone. Let's start by loving Jesus and his Word, let's keep his commandments so that we receive his Spirit. The mission of the Holy Spirit is permanent and eternal. It is not a passing or ephemeral Spirit. He is still with us on a daily basis. But when we refuse to do God's will, we sadden Him, we dishonor Him. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but we know him, for he abides with us, and is in us. The world does not know him since it does not know his distributor or his supplier Jesus Christ. Acts 8:18. “When Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given by the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money.” The world wants the Holy Spirit without having received Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the Head or Master who lives in us and guides us. So we will never be orphans. Jesus called his disciples “my little children” (Jn 13:33). We can understand why he talks about orphans. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
