Theme: “The Lord Jesus Christ comes to our aid”
Text: Matthew 9:23-26
23. When Jesus came to the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd, 24. he said to them, Depart; for the girl is not dead, but sleeps. And they laughed at him. 25. When the crowd had been dismissed, he went in and took the girl's hand, and the girl stood up. 26. The report spread throughout the country.
Let's remember:
It can sometimes take a while before we see God’s help manifest. This small delay may be the time that Jesus is on his way to the place of mourning. While waiting for help, let us be close to the Lord like the father who did not leave Jesus on the journey to his house. Even if people are already coming to sing laments instead of mourning, that does not stop Jesus' help. Let us not worry about those who quickly want to bury us; those who wish for our failure or even our death. As long as the Lord Jesus journeys with us, his help remains available; and it won't be long. Jesus Christ is the only one who scattered people in the place of mourning, even before performing the miracle. He proclaimed the end of mourning without having yet resurrected the dead. It is the expression of his authority over life and death; it is also his assurance to bring help into our lives. Let us learn to proclaim the end of our illnesses, our anxieties, our unemployment, our pain, our hostilities, our struggles, in short, let us disperse the difficulties that are piling up in front of our lives so that help and peace can take hold. The help of Jesus must come where there is peace. If help comes in the midst of tumult, there will be confusion and confusion. There must be a de-escalation before receiving help from Jesus Christ. “Go away; for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” When the crowd had been dismissed, he entered and took the girl's hand, and the girl stood up. God's help comes where there is peace, calm, assurance and faith. What was the reaction of those who mocked Jesus when he resurrected the girl? Have a great Thursday. Amen
