Theme: “The Lord Jesus Christ comes to our aid”
Text: Matthew 9:18-19
18. While he spoke these words to them, behold, a certain prince came and bowed down before him, and said, My daughter died a moment ago; but come, lay your hands on her, and she will live. 19. Jesus got up and followed him with his disciples.
Let's remember:
Our Lord Jesus Christ always sympathizes with our pain notwithstanding our hazardous choices which could be the cause of this pain. He takes pity on us and comes to our aid. It is his heart of love which is the foundation of this surge of help. To cling to his divine heart to the problems that undermine our life, let us go before his face and prostrate ourselves to beg him to come to our aid. Our humility is required if we expect his help. In reality, it is not up to us to choose the action that Jesus Christ, our Lord, should perform. There is no need to dictate a course of action to God because he is omniscient, omnipotent and above all sovereign. He knows better than anyone the need best suited to our situation. Let us not direct the action of our Lord. Our reference text shows that Jesus was interrupted by this leader who burst in while our Lord was in the middle of teaching on a subject of no less priority. Jesus left the crowd who were listening attentively to follow this leader. Jesus could send his Word to resurrect his daughter; but he agreed to follow him in order to show his compassion and also speak to the hearts of those who were present at the place of mourning. Jesus made the trip to bring help to the chief and his entire grieving family. This father's faith adhered to the expectations of Jesus; and he triggered the miracle as a sign of help. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
