The Lord Jesus Christ comes to our aid

Monday January 15, 2024

Theme: “The Lord Jesus Christ comes to our aid

Text: Matthew 9:1-8

1. Jesus got into a boat and crossed the sea and went to his city. 2. And, behold, they brought him a paralytic lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic: Take courage, my child, your sins are forgiven you. 3. Whereupon some of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes. 4. And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said: Why have ye evil thoughts in your hearts? 5. For which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven, or to say, Rise up and walk? 6. Now that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins: Get up, he said to the paralytic, take up your bed, and go to your house. 7. And he got up and went to his house. 8. When the crowd saw this, they were overcome with fear, and they glorified God, who has given men such power.

Let's remember:

The work that Jesus Christ wanted to accomplish is a work of beneficence, a work of charity and manifestation of the power of God. But the scribes, having no feeling of love, understood nothing. When the heart does not have the fundamentals of the Word of God, it is impossible to understand the will of God. When the Lord Jesus Christ comes to our rescue, he first sees our faith and then responds accordingly by replenishing it and relieving us of our sins. We must know that forgiveness of sins is the sine qua non condition for healing. Men go to Jesus Christ to seek physical healing but He begins with spiritual healing (mental, moral, psychic then emotional). It ends with physical healing because it is a simple consequence of spiritual healing. No one else is capable of healing a person in all his entities, namely body, soul and spirit. Our Lord Jesus sees the flaws that cause us illnesses. It is still not viruses or other microbes, fungi, bacteria that bring us diseases. Many times our illnesses come from our sinful life. It is fitting for our Lord to come to our aid by healing the cause so that the effect also follows the path of healing. Our detractors will not want to see us heal; they will always murmur as Jesus extends his forgiving and healing hand to us. The Lord Jesus Christ comes to the rescue of our sins and illnesses. Have a great Monday. Amen
