The Life of Daniel

Sunday July 14, 2024

Theme: “The Life of Daniel

Text: Daniel 6:1-4

1. Darius thought it good to establish over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, who were to be throughout the whole kingdom. 2. He put three chiefs over them, among whom was Daniel, so that these satraps would report to them, and so that the king would not suffer any harm. 3. Daniel excelled the leaders and satraps, because there was a superior spirit in him; and the king thought of establishing it throughout the kingdom. 4. Then the rulers and the satraps sought an opportunity to accuse Daniel concerning the affairs of the kingdom. But they could find no occasion, nor anything to rebuke, because he was faithful, and neither fault nor anything bad was seen in him.

Let's remember:

Those who govern us see better what we are worth within our structures. They know how saving and relevant our involvement is. They see our abilities in each of our interventions. They also know that God has granted us a superior mind, compared to others. But what do we do with this superiority? For many of us, this is a matter of pride to demonstrate our superiority complex. But, for Daniel, it was a good opportunity to promote God's interests in the midst of a pagan people. Daniel always said it was the grace of God. When people congratulated him for his superiority, he told them that it was God who gave him this intelligence, and that nothing came from him. God gives us grace to have a mind superior to others and, when we are appointed to positions of responsibility, it is so that our head of structure does not suffer any damage. Now, as far as we are concerned, unlike Daniel, when we become leaders, we forget to serve God, we no longer have time for God who raised us. We also forget to serve our hierarchical leaders who trusted us. We prioritize our own interests. For this, we cause several damages to our structures, to our hierarchy but also to God. When people accuse us, they find several faults in our way of managing; which was not the case with Daniel. Excellent Sunday. Amen
