Theme: “The happiness that comes from meditating on the word of God

Text: Deuteronomy 17:18-20

18. When he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he will write for himself in a book a copy of this law, which he will take from the priests, the Levites. 19. He must have it with him and read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to observe and to do all the words of this law and all these ordinances. ; 20. lest his heart be exalted above his brethren, nor turn aside from these commandments to the right hand or to the left; that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, in the midst of Israel.

Let's remember:

Here are the instructions that the Lord God gave to the people of Israel to trace the path to their happiness if they put these commandments into practice. The Lord God had described everything that could make their lives easier but also what could put them in difficulty. He set limits not to be exceeded at the risk of tiring his patience. Among all these instructions, God even spoke to them about the future king who should lead Israel. He says this: Deuteronomy 17:17. “Let him not have many wives, lest his heart turn away; and let him not make great heaps of silver and gold.” Let us remember that Solomon failed to obey this law of God because the end of his life was the opposite of this divine instruction. So, let us be on the lookout for the word of God to meditate on it day and night and act faithfully according to what is taught there. In fact, if we heed God's instructions regarding the call to meditate on His word, we will live a very secure life in our God. Happiness is found in obedience and putting God’s word into practice. Here again God asked future kings to always have a copy of the word of God and to read it. Each time, the king should practice this word to set an example for the majority of the people. According to God, the king should be a model that the people would follow and through this, God would bless the king and all the people with him. By doing so, he would live in peace, his days would increase on the throne, the people would be happy. King David understood this instruction and God rewarded him. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
