Theme: “The death of Jesus Christ: foundation of our salvation”
Text: Matthew 26:17-24
17. On the first day of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you? 18. He said, Go into the city to so-and-so, and say to him, The master said, My time is near; I will celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house. 19. The disciples did as Jesus had commanded them, and they prepared the Passover. 20. When evening came, he sat down to eat with the twelve. 21. While they were eating, he said, Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me. 22. And they were greatly grieved, and every one began to say unto him, Am it I, Lord? 23. He said, He who has put his hand in the dish with me, he will deliver me up. 24. The Son of Man goes, according to what is written about him. But woe to the man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for this man if he had not been born.
Let's remember:
The obstacle course endured by our Lord is a painful journey full of twists and turns. Although the path was already traced from the kingdom of heaven before the coming of Jesus, the fact remains that this path is adorned with traitors, ungrateful people, timid people, men of little faith, in short, several people accompanied the Son of God towards the cross without realizing it. Even when going to prepare the place to celebrate the Passover meal, the disciples did not understand that they were preparing the way of Jesus' death because this last Passover celebrated the death and resurrection of Jesus. The owner of the house might have felt honored that his house had been chosen to welcome the savior, but he did not know the ins and outs of this sequence prelude to the death of Christ Jesus. Christ was the only one who steered the ship on its journey to the cross, despite the massive participation of his contemporaries. Gravity had already won the heart of the owner of the house to the point of not refusing it to them; even if they would have found another place. Regardless, what must be remembered is that on the path to the cross of Christ, our Lord received the collaboration of several people who opened the door to death for him. Let us also appreciate that everyone contributed to the establishment of salvation because the death of Jesus connects humanity to salvation. Yes, the death of Jesus Christ remains the foundation of our salvation. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
