The death of Jesus Christ: foundation of our salvation

Monday March 25, 2024

Theme: “The death of Jesus Christ: foundation of our salvation

Text: John 16:28-32

28. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world; now I leave the world, and I go to the Father. 29. His disciples said to him, Behold, now you speak openly, and use no parable. 30. Now we know that you know all things, and that you need no one to question you; therefore we believe that you came from God. 31. Jesus answered them: Now you believe. 32. Behold, the hour is coming, and now is, when you will be scattered, each of you to his own place, and when you will leave me alone; but I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

Let's remember:

Our Lord Jesus Christ came from the Father; which would mean that he came from the Father but also that he left his initial position to live temporarily on earth. This would also mean that he has entered a new dispensation whose starting point is the throne of God. He came to the earth of men; he surrendered himself to the cross, he returned his spirit to the Father, he regained his spirit by resurrecting from the dead, then he returned to heaven on his throne. This painful, great, glorious and saving journey that humans would have liked to call a “kamikaze mission” is a true feat because the death of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our salvation. By his death, Jesus became the only God who could save the entire universe at once. He worked for the past, for the present and for the future. Indeed, Jesus Christ accomplished an eternally lasting work. Nothing in the world can erase the fallout from the death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. His death is the link between the Church (which is his body) and salvation (which his death provides). The Church is now inseparable from salvation. Jesus became the extension of our life because he who believes in Him will never die; he will live even though he were dead. Excellent privilege given to members of the body of Christ who believe in his death and resurrection. If the death of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our salvation; it is also the foundation of the destruction of the power of satan and sin. The death of Jesus destroyed the power of death. His death gave us life. Pleasant Monday in Christ Jesus. Amen
