Theme : " The conditions for being a disciple of Jesus Christ "
Text : John 8: 31-37
31. And he said to the Jews who believed on him, If you will abide in my word, you are truly my disciples; 32. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. 33. They answered him, We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves of anyone; how do you say: you will become free? 34. Truly, truly, I say to you, Jesus answered them, whoever commits sin is a slave to sin. 35. Now the slave does not always remain in the house; the son still lives there. 36. If therefore the Son sets you free, you will be truly free. 37. I know that you are the seed of Abraham; but you are trying to kill me, because my word does not enter into you.
Let us remember :
Whoever wants to become a disciple of Jesus Christ must abide in the Word of God. He must live his life according to the holy scriptures. He does not compromise by excluding certain biblical requirements. He clings to the Word, meditates on it, practices it and disseminates it. To be a disciple is to know the truth (Jesus) which can set us free, deliver us. As long as we remain in the grip of sin, the truth will not be in us; we will not be freed and we will not know the truth. And if we are slaves to sin, it is because we have no part in the Church of God because the Church is the communion of saints. So that every aspiring disciple allows himself to be freed by Jesus in order to become truly free. Salvation is before us in the person of Jesus. The truth, too, is only in his person. Let us go to Him with our weaknesses; accept his Word and live it; he will sanctify us and we will become his disciples. Excellent Saturday. Amen Alain Louz.-
