Theme : " The conditions for being a disciple of Jesus Christ "
Text : Matthew 16: 24-26
24. Then Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. 25. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses it for my sake will find it. 26. And what would it profit a man to gain everyone, if he lost his soul? Or, what would a man give in exchange for his soul?
Let us remember :
Anyone who goes to church is not a disciple. It is not the fact of speaking of Jesus Christ that makes one called a disciple. The disciple is the one who has abandoned his old ways, and who walks in newness of life, in accordance with the will of his master. If there is a disciple, it is because he is connected to a master. Jesus Christ is the teacher and we are his disciples. Still, we have to meet certain conditions in order to truly become disciples. The first condition is to recognize the existence of a Lord and Savior in the person of Jesus. Second, recognize that salvation is nowhere except in Him. Be aware that by our efforts, we cannot save ourselves. Thus, accepting the salvation offered by Christ and the follow wherever it takes us. However, the disciple must clearly renounce himself; he must take up his cross; and follow the master Jesus Christ. Taking charge of your cross means forgetting and abandoning yourself, accepting to follow Jesus through good and bad days, without worrying about your life. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
