Theme : “The Christian faced with the challenge of development” Text: Jeremiah 17:7-8
7. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. 8. He is like a tree planted by the waters, And which stretches out its roots towards the stream; It does not notice the heat when it comes, And its foliage remains green; In the year of drought he has no fear, And he never ceases to bear fruit.
Let's remember:
These verses from Jeremiah make a perfect parallel with Psalm 1:1. company of scoffers, 2. But who delights in the law of the LORD, and meditates on it day and night? 3. He is like a tree planted by a stream of water, Which bears fruit in its season, And whose foliage does not wither: Everything he does is successful for him”. It is quite obvious that anyone who tames the Word of God to depend on it, becomes a blessing. She prospers and makes those around her prosper because she becomes a reference, a model to follow. We learn that the source of development is the appropriation of the Word of God. The Lord God is the source of development. Those who rely on his Word do not miss the appointment of development. The man who trusts in the Lord, whose hope is the Lord, becomes blessed. This is justified by the fact that the blessing comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert. The blessing comes from the Lord who made the heavens, the earth and everything in them. Blessing is elevation, it is development. It is God who holds our challenges and who leads our development, our blessings without looking to the seasons and therefore without interruption. It is our sap-supplying root. Even when others feel lack and famine, the Eternal God supplies us because he is the source of water and at the same time the root. We can fear nothing because our development base is solidly built on the rock of Jesus. Thus, to meet the challenge of development, one must refuse to conform to the present century.
