Theme: "The Appearances of Jesus Christ."

Text: John 20:24-29

24. Thomas, called Didymus, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25. The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the print of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe." 26. After eight days, Jesus' disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Then Jesus came, the doors being shut, stood in the midst and said, "Peace be with you!" 27. Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands; put your hand here and place it in my side." and do not be unbelieving, but believing. 28. Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, 29. "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Let us remember:

When the faith of a child of God is tossed about, Jesus makes it his duty to appear in their life to strengthen this wavering faith. Unfortunately, our faith is so weak that we forget everything Jesus had predicted. We are so lacking in vigilance that we fail to see the fulfillment of Jesus' promises. Thomas did not trust his peers. He did not believe what the other disciples said. We are no better than Thomas since we also doubt biblical truths and their fulfillment. Jesus waited eight days before appearing to Thomas, giving him time to repent and believe in the faithfulness of his promises. In his legendary patience, Jesus gives us time to change our minds. Our generation is worse than Thomas's because Jesus is with us every day, yet we still doubt His resurrection. We give more power to the evil one by minimizing Jesus' impact or His daily contribution. Jesus lives in us, but in our prayers, we pretend He isn't in us. We want to put our finger on His wounds without thinking about the pain He would feel. Jesus makes appearances in our families and in our Christian communities. Let's not seek to see Him or see miracles before believing. Let's just believe, and that's it. Have a great Wednesday. Amen.
